Evers Farm
We are petitioning the City of Denton to utilize part of the newly acquired Evers property and historic home on N. Elm St. as a living historic farm.

The property was purchased by JPI, a developer planning to build townhomes. Due to the city's tree ordinance, JPI is donating a large portion of the property to Denton Parks and Recreation, which includes the house, a barn, an old windmill, and a water tower.
Citing costs, the city currently has plans to raze the home in favor of installing a small plaque mentioning the house and family. We firmly disagree with this plan. Once a piece of history such as this is destroyed, there is no bringing it back.
By saving the Evers farmhouse, we see a unique opportunity to not only preserve an important piece of Denton’s history but also create a place where meetings, classes, and workshops related to farming, gardening, wildlife, and our town's history could take place. We believe it would be an excellent addition to our growing town.
